Summer is the season of the Mohawk

Aidan seems to have mostly given up on wanting to "do da make-ups".
This morning while I was getting ready, he pulled up his stepstool and said "I do da mohawk" instead.

He then requested that I turn on the water and give him his comb. He managed to drench one section of his head with the wet comb, but he let me fix it so he could have his mohawk, which made him very happy!

As summer is upon us, the weather here in PA has been HOT. Thankfully Michele has her pool set up, and we are apparently season pass holders. We have a pretty decent sized one of our own that we got last year for Aidan's bday party, but it's a bit more complicated to get set up and then take down each night so we don't kill our lawn. We will certainly get it set up to repay the favor to Wells and Maddox for letting us play in their pool though.

Aidan calls it the "tubby", and along with the older two, is more than happy to jump right in, even when the water is freezing cold!!

Now that there is a pool, and we're all stocked up on popsicles, it's going to be a good summer!!

One month to go!!!

The anticipation and excitement is completely setting in.
Only one more month until I meet my little man!!

I saw these bibs at Target while perusing the baby section and HAD to get them:

There are just a few things left to get in prep for Baby's arrival. I even got some new burp cloths as well, which made me oddly excited!

In the other toddler-oriented corner of my world here is Aidan completely chillaxin watching Little Einsteins...which we had never seen before, but he apparently loved:

And here is a post-nap neighborhood inspection:

Aaaaaaaand this is what I found at 5:30 this am when I went to wake him:

My favorite part is that his feet were actually tucked underneath the pillow....

What rainy days are made for.

While out looking for rain boots for Aidan today I couldn't find anything small enough to fit him.
Luckily I saw Michele when we got home and relayed my story....aaaaand luckily enough she had a small pair to hand down to us!!

When the rain finally stopped we actually found a giant mud puddle in the parking lot next to the building, and I let him go to town.

For a while he just played with the shovel, splashing with it and digging....

Then Wells put his boots on too and showed him how to splash and stomp with his feet!!

He splashed mud all over his head and face and laughed and laughed....

He definitely got a bath as soon as we got back in the house!

Cheese Noon-ulls

Aidan has discovered Cheese Doodles...or Cheese Noon-ulls as he likes to call them.
Aaaaaaaand he likes them.

They're great for eating and they're great for using as pretend logs in your construction vehicles:

Also, Ry has been on vacation this week, and this is how he likes to relax.

Yes, he is indeed drinking beer and eating Fruit Loops from the box, while playing with his iPad..... and don't forget the TV remote.
*sigh*

The Popple Birthday Cake Disaster of 2011

I knew I wanted Funfetti cake for my birthday. I also knew I wanted to use my family recipe for homemade frosting too (Stuff from a can? Yuck.). So who better to make it all than me?
Yes, I made my own birthday cake. Or at least tried to.

I decided for sh*ts and giggles that I would pull out some of the old cake pans my mom gave me from cakes she made for me and my brother when we were little.. I was torn between the Cabbage Patch Kid and the Popple, but in the end the Popple won.

To make a long story short, even though I greased and floured the pan like I was instructed, the cake would NOT come out of the pan.
It ended up coming out in lots and lots of broken pieces...it was a MESS!!

I decided to make the best of it and took the largest chunks and pieced them together on 2 different plates, one for Michele and her guys and one for us. With a ton of frosting and some poorly drawn decorations (along with sprinkles on Wells & Maddox's), they were edible but looked like horribly misshapen blobs. Ah well.

I took the pile of completely destroyed cake scraps and smashed it together into one big chunk of cake, and gave it to Aidan to "decorate".

I filled his "coffee cup" (he always asks for his "coffee cup" so he can drink coffee with Mommy) with frosting and gave him a mini spatula and showed him how to frost it...

Then he added sprinkles

and managed to eat a few sprinkles as well

We went out to dinner on my birthday Aidan-free because Michele was generous enough to offer to watch him for us. She rocks! When I went to pick him up he looked at me and said " I don't want to go home". Hmmph well fine then. But you're coming home anyway.

She even helped all 3 boys make me some birthday cards...which I must say were by far my 3 favorite cards this birthday!

Eeew snakes

While standing at the sink doing my makeup the other day, Aidan pulled his stepstool up next to me and said:
"I do da make-ups!"

So I gave him a giant face brush and let him go at it. It was hysterical!
Now everytime I'm doing my makeup he likes to join me at the double sink (on Daddy's side), and when he asks to do da make-ups, now instead of letting him play with my makeup I started giving him a mohawk with Daddy's gel.

Also entertaining!

Last night we were playing with the iPad which now has all sorts of toddler games on it for Aidan. There is one that is counting, and it puts the images on the screen and everytime they touch one it says the number and shows it. For example: count the Pizzas (you have to touch like 8 pizzas and it counts from 1-8)

Last night we had snakes to count for the first time. The voice told him to count the snakes and Aidan said:
"Eeew, I don't want to touch the snakes".

I almost died. Where did he get that from?!?!

Mother's Day

<3

My second Mother's Day was fabulous.(Last year for my first I had to work days and Ry had to work nights...not very exciting) It started with some mini quiche and fruit salad with Aidan  (Ryan had to go in for Rounds in the morning, but was home by 11!)
Then A. and I headed outside for a walk around the neighborhood, and by the time we got home, Daddy was home too!

I then convinced Ry to assemble A's new bike since it was such a beautful day and I knew he would get some good use out of it. By the time the new bike was ready to play with, Michele, Wells, and Maddox had joined us outside for some fun.

The big boys got to play some basketball with Ryan, and Aidan wasn't quite sure of how to handle this. He kept saying "I want Wells!". I guess it was a lose-lose for him since he couldn't have Daddy to himself, and he couldn't have his buddy Wells to himself like usual either....

We decided to head out to Olive Garden for lunch, and I figured it would be busy, but when we drove past and saw about 30-40 people waiting outside, I told Ry to just keep driving! We ended up at Cracker Barrel instead, and then back home to play outside again.

It was then that Ry decided it was such a nice day that he would wash my car and vacuum it all out for me. What a guy! So Aidan helped, and was absolutely soaked but he had a fabulous time with Daddy.

"here you go, Daddy"

Even the new bike got a good washing

The ice cream truck came by and we got some chocolate ice cream for the perfect addition to our fabulous day. Aidan was so covered that I had to bring him in to get a bath then back outside to play again...

The final fabulous touch on my day was the fact that Wells brought over some desserts that he made all by himself!

YUM!!

I hope all you other Mommies out there had a day just as great as mine!

New bike and the big boy bed

King of the Road
Aidan has been watching Wells and Maddox zoom around on their bikes and saying  "I ride da bike!". So I pulled his 3-in-1 tricycle out of the garage and took off all the "baby" safety features (such as the handle I used to push him in it, and the foot rests).

Unfortunately he is too young to know how to pedal (or to even reach them for that matter), and his legs weren't quite long enough to move himself with his feet on the ground, either.

Jess has a Fisher Price trike for Austen that Aidan loved when he played at her house recently, and he was able to "Fred Flintstone" it with his feet. So we went and got him one.
He spent almost his entire time outside on Sunday riding it around!

That is, after he "helped" Daddy build it!

In other exciting news we've had 2 successful nights of sleeping in his new room in his new big boy bed! We are keeping his old room as the nursery for Baby Brudder, so that's all set, but we had to clear out the guest room to make room for Big Brudder. Right now it consists of a toddler bed and a nightstand, haha. We need to find him a new dresser, and we're going to paint it next week, so I will finally get some wall decorations and new curtains up for him too. Pics to follow when we finally get it all set up.

When I went in to wake him this morning, this was what I found:

Looks pretty cozy, right?
I mean, I always sleep with my Duck over my head, too......

T-Ball

We spent our Saturday morning watching one of our best buddies, Wells, play T-Ball.

It was adorable!! All those little bodies with gigantic batting helmets on was hilarious....
Wells did great and we got there just in time to see him pitching too!!!

I got to use my new camera for some action shots for the first time too, and thought they turned out pretty great!

If you look closely you can see he's running with his tongue sticking out....

Aidan's favorite part of the outing was the fact that he got to sit on the bench with Wells like one of the big boys. He kept saying "I sit on bench!"

Hopefully we can make next Saturday's game too!!

Aaaannd.... on a side note related to Michele's kids...Maddox told me today "your belly is too fat."

Then Michele had him convinced I was hiding a basketball under my shirt, so he had to touch the belly and see for himself.  After we chuckled she explained the whole Aidan's baby brother is in there thing....but he didn't look too sure of the whole situation!!
