Houston Dynamo Soccer Camp 2014

When I was coaching Aidan's old soccer team in Pearland, we were given info to share with our teams about soccer camps being hosted over the summer. The one that caught my eye was the one being hosted by the Houston Dynamo, our Major League Soccer team here in Houston. How cool would it be to be taught by the pros? Also, Ryan's good friend (and old college roommate, and groomsman in our wedding) Jordan used to play for the Dynamo after college so we already feel a connection to the team! ;)

Aidan loved the idea so we signed him up!

It was held for 4 nights from 5-630. I was a little worried about the heat since it was outdoors in Houston. In August. But I guess these kids here in the South just adjust.

We got there the first night and the kids were each given a Dynamo jersey and their own Dynamo soccer ball. So cute to see them all in their orange gear!

Mason, however, was pissed as all hell that he couldn't play too. This kid is going to be my athlete, for sure. He's much more aggressive than Aidan with that ball. Aidan is always the last one to be seen running along behind his teammates, not caring about getting the ball. Sadly Mason has to wait 2 more years until he's 5 to do Dynamo camp.

Aidan loved every minute of it and was extremely upset the last night that it was over. I promised him we'll do it again next summer!

2 of the 4 nights Ryan even managed to stop in for the end of practice after work, which was great!

On the second night the kids all got their balls signed by a player on the team. He's a rookie who is apparently out right now because he just had knee surgery for a torn ACL. Ryan chatted with him quick because he wanted to see if he knew Jordan, but being he's only a rookie and Jordan hasn't played for them in years he didn't know him.

Aidan and his coach on the last night.

A few of the nights we just went out to eat afterward because we were 45mins-1hour away from home so it just made sense to eat while we were out so far from home, plus we avoided the rush hour traffic in the city.

On Tuesday of that week Aidan finally got to have his Taco Tuesday. The sports park we were at was only about 5-10 minutes form our old apartment so we decided to hit up our favorite Mexican place in Pearland while we were so close.

He was in Heaven.

Now I need to sign Aidan up for the fall for soccer. I've found a league up here in NE Houston that also has a 3 year old team so Mason's finally going to get to play too!
