Amazing Friends, who as an added bonus are neighbors.

We never imagined when we moved into this neighborhood in June, that we would gain so many amazing friends.

While we were in the apartment in Pearland we knew nobody. We had no place to bring the kids outside to play, so we weren't even outside enough to meet people. I knew Brittany, whose husband was a Fellow with Ryan, and ended up making one other mom friend through the boy's preschool but that was it. It was a relatively boring/lonely existence for our first year away from our friends and family in NY/PA.

These families that we've met here in our new neighborhood are not just neighbors, but friends we choose to spend our free time with. We feel incredibly blessed to have found such a fun and caring group of people to live in our new neighborhood with.

When we moved in to our house back in June, the first neighbor I met was Erin, our immediate next door neighbors to our left. She invited us to a crawfish boil/pool party at their house. I was so excited to have a chance to meet new people, and was so grateful for that invitation to meet the crew. We had a great time, and also got to meet Sarah and Devin, whose kids are Arthur and Ellie. The kids immediately hit it off, as did Sarah and I....and to top it off these southerners gave me enough alcohol to convince this Yankee to eat crawfish for the first time.

And it was good.

"Baby Reagan" as my boys call her. Enjoying cupcakes at the boys party.

The second traditional Neighbor Saturday Funday!

As time went on, we met Nikol, Mike, and Baby Madeline, who live on the other side of us, across the street.

We were all running into each other outside as the kids played and getting to know each other. I can tell you we knew we had found the best place to live by then.

We decided to invite Sarah & Devin over one Saturday for pizza and beer. We had a great time, and the next Saturday they invited us over for pizza and beer. The next weekend we got Erin & Ken in on the fun..... And so was born Neighbor Saturday Funday.

We started taking turns hosting, and at one point we decided to invite the neighbors behind Nikol, who I had met briefly outside one evening in the summer, and got to know Lori & Scott and their 3 kids, Drake, Graham and Libby.

And the crew grew.

S'mores at Miss Erin's!

Then we met Brad, Heather, Taylor & Kaden at Lori's on the night she hosted neighbor fun day. They live in our neighborhood too, but not quite in our area of the back part of the neighborhood. We also got to meet Heather & Brad's friends Kassandra & Scott too and their 3 kids. They live in another neighborhood super close to us, but I think they still count as neighbors! Our entire neighborhood crew is awesome. We had a great Halloween and all the families got together at Sarah's and Devin took us on a hay ride to go trick or treating. The kids all had an absolute blast together on Halloween, and we met a few more of our immediate neighbors who we hadn't really gotten to know before.

We are so thankful to have met all of y'all, and we really feel that we couldn't have ended up in a better neighborhood. I don't imagine that it's all that common to be such good friends with your neighbors, but I am thankful that it is this way. Y'all are always looking out for us and making sure I'm OK when you know Ryan is working nights or late hours. You guys rock, and I'm so glad to call the neighborhood of Summer Lake Ranch our new home!
